NYSED Office of Educational Technology Policy and Programs

Posted by Ken Fujiuchi on May 29, 2009

The New York State Department of Education has recently created an  Office of Educational Technology Policy and Programs. This office is charged with the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the University of the State of New York (USNY) Statewide Educational Technology Plan. It also coordinates State Education Department programs and initiatives to foster and implement educational technologies across learning environments statewide.
The Board of Regents discussed the USNY Statewide Educational Technology Plan at their May 2009 meeting.
Access to the draft plan and more information can be found at: http://www.regents.nysed.gov/meetings/2009Meetings/May2009/0509brd2.htm
The Office of Educational Technology Policy and Programs Web page is at:  www.emsc.nysed.gov/edtech
An Educational Technology Survey is posted to the Web site, in which the Board of Regents invite you to share your reactions to the proposed vision and goals at the foundation of the NYS educational technology plan. You are invited, through the survey, to share promising practices for ways technology can be used to transform teaching and learning.

Pithy and to-the-point microblogging is one the engines that runs social engagement on the Web.  How are libraries using microblogging to achieve their goals and vision?  How do you incorporate it in your library?  Are you using Twitter, Jaiku or creating regular status updates on Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIN, or Blip.fm?  What do you think the future holds for the microblogging trend, especially for libraries?

Come share how you have successfully used microblogging or discuss your questions or concerns about the medium.

This event is free and open to anyone interested in exploring this topic.
